Using workshop content

Introduction

Counter-Strike 2 supports loading a server with workshop content. This is important because it allows your players to automatically fetch custom content as they are joining rather than manually loading it into their client folder.

Reading time: 3mins

Prerequisites / Disclaimers

  • Access to Steam workshop

Purpose

To configure the server to startup and load with workshop content, once a player joins they are automatically served that content and can join without issues.

      Enter your identifer

  6. You may now start your server

  7. Players who join will receive the workshop content, if you ever want to turn off the custom content you can just remove the value and leave it blank to return the server back to normal

  8. Done! ⭐

Loading a workshop map (alternative)

An alternative way to loading a workshop map is by leaving the server on and just entering the workshop identifier (Fetching workshop identifiers ➡️) in the Console of the server as it is running if you prefer. (This just means on start-up the server won’t receive the map)

  1. Open the Game Panel

  2. If not already, navigate to the Console page

  3. Type host_workshop_map {workshopid}, for example host_workshop_map 3437809122 and hit ENTER

  4. The server will change the map over to the new map (as shown below)

    Console output confirming the change

    Console output confirming the change

  5. Done! ⭐

Tips!

If you are using a workshop collection you can list all the maps within the collection with ds_workshop_listmaps.

You can change the level using the ds_workshop_changelevel command to another workshop map using the name.
