Updating your server
Introduction
Terraria from Delta Networks has two product options. Vanilla and modded and depending on what version you have, depends on the steps to follow for updating your server.

To update your server, or select a specific version for your game.
Procedures

Updating your vanilla server
Open your Game Panel
Stop your Terraria Server
Make a backup of your save - Learn more
Now we need to reinstall the server so it pulls the
latestversion againGo to Configuration → Server Actions

Click Reinstall Server

Wait.
Start your server and see if your server is on the latest version

Specifying a specific version for your vanilla server
Open your Game Panel

Navigate to the Left Sidebar → Startup Parameters page

On a new tab open this webpage
Note the server versions listed. Pick one that’s 1.4.2.3 or greater. (1.0.6.1 or 1.1.2 will not work)
Go back to your Game Panel tab and paste the version in the Game Version box
Note: If you change your mind, just set it back to
latest
Now we need to set the server’s version for when you start the server next
Go to Configuration → Server Actions

Click Reinstall Server

Wait.
Start your server and see if your server is on the version you specified

Fetch the version of tModLoader you want
Go to the official github repo and look at the releases page
Follow the below GIF and paste the version tag into the
tModloader Versionfield
Now we need to deploy the version to the server instance

Now we need to set the server’s version for when you start the server next
Go to Configuration → Server Actions

Click Reinstall Server

Wait.
Start your server and see if your server is on the version you specified

Selecting your update channel for your tModLoader server
This one is a simple toggle. If you want to use the latest version instead of specifying a specific version, you can do this. But what if you want the latest preview build? Or the latest stable build?
Open your Game Panel

Navigate to the Left Sidebar → Startup Parameters page

Make sure the version is
latest
If you want the latest stable channel set the update channel to
1
If you want the latest preview channel set the update channel to
0
Now we need to reinstall the server so it pulls the
latestversion againGo to Configuration → Server Actions

Click Reinstall Server

Wait.
Start your server and see if your server is on the version you specified
