Installing CurseForge mods

Introduction

Installing mods from CurseForge allows you to enhance your Hytale server with new features, gameplay mechanics, or quality-of-life improvements. This guide explains how to download and install these mods into your server's /mods/ folder.

Reading time: 5–10 min

Prerequisites / Disclaimers

  • A running Hytale server

  • Access to the Game Panel or server file system

  • Permission to upload files to /mods/

Always check that the mod version is compatible with your server version. Incompatible mods can prevent your server from starting.

Purpose

This guide will show you how to:

  1. Locate mods on CurseForge

  2. Download the mod JAR file

  3. Upload the mod to your server’s /mods/ folder

  4. Verify installation

Procedure

1. Locate a Mod on CurseForge

  1. Visit CurseForge Hytale Mods ↗️

  2. Browse or search for the mod you want

  3. Ensure the mod is compatible with your Hytale server version

Always read the mod description and requirements for dependencies or configuration instructions.

2. Download the Mod JAR

  1. Click Download or Files on the mod page

  2. Choose the latest stable release (or the version compatible with your server)

  3. Save the .jar file to your local computer

3. Upload the Mod to Your Server

Not sure? Click here ➡️ to learn more about our File Manager and how to use it.

  1. Log in to your Game Panel

  2. Stop your server

  3. Navigate to:

    Tools → File Manager

  4. Open the /mods/ folder in your server directory:

/home/container/mods/
  1. Upload the downloaded mod JAR file into /mods/

  2. Ensure the file has the .jar extension and is placed directly in /mods/, not in a subfolder

4. Verify Installation

  1. Restart your Hytale server

  2. Check server logs to confirm the mod loaded successfully

  3. Test the mod in-game to ensure it works as expected

If the server fails to start, remove the last uploaded mod JAR and check compatibility.

End

Installing mods from CurseForge is as simple as downloading the .jar and placing it into /mods/. Always verify compatibility and restart your server after adding or updating mods.
