Using our custom Mod Manager

Purpose

This guide will show you how to use our unique mod manager for Factorio if you choose to use it.

Alternatively, you may just install mods manually by dragging and dropping the mod-list.json and subsequent mod folders across to the server's /mods/ folder.

Requirements

Your server must be OFF.

Always backup your world before making any changes, you've been warned!

Procedure

1) Open your server and go to Configuration > Startup Parameters > Scroll to bottom

2) Click on the dropdown box of Server Mode

3) Change this to '1' and click away

4) Now click on Mod List

Pro tip! Hover of the (i) for more information.

5) Type in the mods you want

To get the mod names go to https://mods.factorio.com/ and search the mods you want. Open the mod page of that mod and look at the URL in the browser. For example if I want "Hide Infinite Technologies", I'd go to that page.

6) To add multiple mods you need to separate the mods with a comma.

7) Now go over and start your server

8) Test and see what happens!

9) Have any errors? Take a look at this example! (If you have no errors, you can skip to step 10.)

As you can see, its missing a dependency. To add this, copy the name of the mod and add it into your mod list per step 5) and start the server again

Server is now online!

10) To remove a mod, simply stop the server, remove it from the Mod List and start the server again! Its that simple!

Caveats

This mod framework does not support older versions of Factorio. Please contact support if you're strictly chasing Factorio 1.1, we can setup a specific instance for you but Mod Manager won't be support; manual installs only.

Each time you launch your server, it will check for updates to remain up to date. If you only wish to be on a specific version, you will need to install manually.
